ADDDitive: Transforming Practice: Tools, Strategies, and Insights for the Digital Architect.

Welcome to ADDDitive!
Hi there,
As the year closes, this edition brings together a few patterns I have seen repeatedly across architecture practices, ConTech founders, and AEC leaders.
AI, BIM 2.0, rising IT costs, new roles, and new tools are all part of the conversation. But beneath the noise, the real issue is more fundamental. Most practices are not struggling because of technology itself. They are struggling because decisions around technology have been fragmented, reactive, and rarely treated as a core business strategy.
The pieces below reflect that shift. From software costs that are actually IT support problems, to AI acting as a stress test for weak foundations, to where real opportunity is emerging for both ConTech companies and architects themselves.
This is not about chasing trends. It is about understanding what is changing, why it matters, and how to make better decisions going into 2026.
Let’s get into it. 👇.

If something here hits home, just reply, I read every message!

1. Architects, You Don’t Have a Software Costs Problem, You Have an IT Support Costs Problem.
A quick reflection as the year closes.
This year, the content I shared reached 760,000 impressions and over 143,000 people on LinkedIn. But the numbers matter less than what they revealed. Architects, BIM Managers, and AEC leaders are actively looking for clarity and leadership as AI, BIM 2.0, and new tools reshape practice.
Sharing what I have learned through the Technology Blueprint, and seeing those ideas turn into real conversations, projects, and partnerships, has been the most rewarding part. This ADDDitive newsletter has grown to 2,400+ subscribers, creating space to go deeper into what is actually working inside practices.
Here are my top 5 posts from this year:

The outcome I care about most is simple. Better decisions. Fewer mistakes. A clearer connection between design and technology.
Thank you to everyone who read, challenged, and collaborated this year.
2026 goes deeper, not louder.
2. 760,000 LinkedIn impressions didn’t mean what I thought they did. I assumed Architects were engaging because of AI. They weren’t.
A pattern I did not expect this year.
760,000 LinkedIn impressions initially looked like excitement about AI. It was not. What the engagement really reflected was something more uncomfortable. AI is exposing how weak many technology strategies actually are.
AI is not the problem, and it is not the solution. It is a stress test. When it lands badly in a practice, it usually reveals existing issues. Manual workflows that were never fully fixed. Standards built on habit rather than intent. Tools that do not connect. Decisions made project by project instead of strategically.
Most practices do not need more AI. They need a coherent technology strategy that clarifies what matters now, what can wait, and what should stop altogether.
The response I see is not excitement. It is anxiety, mixed with curiosity. AI touches BIM, IT, data, QA, hardware, software, resourcing, security, and infrastructure. If those foundations are shaky, AI simply makes the cracks visible.
The real question for 2026 is not which AI tool to adopt. It is whether we actually understand how our technology is meant to work together. The firms that win will not be the ones adopting the most tools, but the ones making the fewest bad decisions.
3. If You Sell ConTech, This Is The Room You Need to Be In
If you build tech for architects or engineers, the biggest challenge isn’t the product, it’s getting in front of the people who can actually buy it. That’s why AEC INNOVATE (June 16–18, 2026, Aria Las Vegas) matters.
It brings together 500+ Principals, CTOs, Innovation Leads, Digital Directors, and decision-makers who come specifically to evaluate new AI and workflow tools.
This isn’t a trade show. It’s direct access to your ICP.
Why Exhibit?
You get two days of high-intent conversations with senior AEC leaders who are actively:
✓ Looking for new tools
✓ Making budget decisions
✓ Comparing solutions side-by-side
✓ Planning their 2026 tech roadmaps
If you want pipeline, product feedback, visibility, and deal acceleration, I think that this is it.
Your Exhibitor Package Includes
• Exhibit space
• 2 passes
• Your logo on the website + main stage
• A custom promo link (below) giving your prospects $200 off
Why It Works
AEC INNOVATE is built to connect ConTech builders with the exact end users shaping adoption across the industry - the people who influence real buying decisions.

4. In 2026 AI Won’t Replace Architects. It will Hire Them. Here are 10 companies hiring AEC talent right now.
A shift worth paying attention to.
There is a lot of noise about AI replacing architects. What I am seeing in practice is the opposite. In 2026, AI is not replacing architects. It is hiring them.
Architectural skills are becoming increasingly valuable in the tech economy because the future of the built environment is not just designed. It is engineered, automated, simulated, and optimised by people who understand buildings, construction, and delivery.
The companies hiring right now are not removing architects from the process. They are expanding what architects can become. Roles spanning AI compliance, digital delivery, visualisation, automation, and platform design all rely on deep AEC knowledge.
This week I shared ten companies actively hiring AEC talent, each pointing to where expertise is moving next. It is a clear signal of where opportunity is forming.
1. Xfigura - Design intelligence with control
2. Agave - Field and finance, finally in sync
3. Domos - The most powerful AI solution for property management
4. Permitflow - Construction’s AI workforce
5. Anybotics - Autonomous robotic inspection solutions
6. Greenlite - Your ideal path to a building permit
7. Evercam - Your complete construction visibility solution
8. Integrated Projects - Turn any building into as built plans, on-demand
9. Swapp - Architectural efficiency, delivered
10. Speckle - The better way to work together in 3D
