ADDDitive: Transforming Practice: Tools, Strategies, and Insights for the Digital Architect.

Welcome to ADDDitive!
👋 Hi there,
This week in AEC Tech: the rooms that shape what’s next.
If you’ve felt the pace of change accelerating in AEC, you’re right and it isn’t happening inside closed ecosystems. It’s in the rooms where architects, engineers, and technologists collide. In this issue, I’m sharing the five events I believe will shape 2026 (with a SpeckleCon discount), a quick favour to support an Innovator of the Year finalist, our one-hour Rayon rebuild of Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye, and two resources designed to save you time: my searchable database of 1,600+ ConTech tools and the AEC Tech Jobs platform, now one year old with 1,800 roles posted.
Skim it, bookmark what’s useful, and pick one event to attend with intent. The next 12 months of your practice, or product idea, might start there.
Let’s get into it 👇
Tech moves fast, but you're still playing catch-up?
That's exactly why 100K+ engineers working at Google, Meta, and Apple read The Code twice a week.
Here's what you get:
Curated tech news that shapes your career - Filtered from thousands of sources so you know what's coming 6 months early.
Practical resources you can use immediately - Real tutorials and tools that solve actual engineering problems.
Research papers and insights decoded - We break down complex tech so you understand what matters.
All delivered twice a week in just 2 short emails.
1. Want to know about AEC workflows? Come to the SpeckleCon Event!
SpeckleCon is where the brightest minds in architecture, engineering, construction, and design gather to shape how AEC uses its data. Hosted in London on November 7th, this flagship event highlights how Speckle is transforming AEC workflows through real-world success stories from industry leaders like Gensler, Multiconsult, Stantec, and Haskoning. Join the event here to explore cutting-edge applications of machine learning, data pipelines, and performance-driven design to unlock the full potential of BIM data.
Tickets on sale: https://conf.speckle.systems/
PLUS: Use my special code ATJ at the checkout for 10% off.
2. Can you help? Howie needs you!
I am a big fan of Howie and the work that Ewa Lenart is doing to help architects use their data. She is up for Innovator of the Year 2025!

If you could support her with 3 seconds of your time, and vote for Howie, that would be great: https://poll-maker.com/frame5598814x75E6411D-165 Thank you!
3. We Rebuilt Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye in One Hour - Here’s What Happened
Not everything we do at ADDD is six-week technology strategies and 100-page research reports. Sometimes, we just open a new tool and see what happens. This time, we challenged ourselves to recreate Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye, one of modernism’s most iconic buildings and nearly 100 years old, using Rayon, a browser-based design tool that’s refreshingly intuitive.
The challenge: One hour.
The goal: Rebuild an architectural icon.
The result: A surprisingly accurate ground plan, and a reminder that testing tools should be fun.
Massive thanks to Arvinder Singh, who pulled the video together 🙌
Why We Do This
Because exploring new software shouldn’t feel intimidating. It shouldn’t require enterprise budgets or years of technical experience. We genuinely believe that democratising access to design technology, making it open, playful, and experiment-driven, is how the next generation of architects will discover what’s possible.
That’s what our experiments are all about: testing, learning, and sharing what works in the evolving world of AEC and ConTech.

You’ll see how Rayon handles geometry, scaling, and real-time collaboration in the browser. If you’ve ever wondered how close we are to “instant architecture,” this might be your answer.
Coming Soon
Stay tuned for more experiments from Leo Pickford, Arvinder Singh, and exploring software, digital roles, and AEC workflows in a way that’s engaging, useful, and (hopefully) a little bit fun.
4. The 5 Events That Will Shape AEC Tech in 2026
🔥 Every major AEC tech shift in 2026 will start at one of these events, and no, it’s not Autodesk University.
Over the last year, I’ve met hundreds of ConTech founders, startup teams, and digital design leaders. One thing has become clear: the real innovation in AEC isn’t happening inside closed ecosystems.
It’s happening in the rooms where architects, engineers, and technologists collide; testing ideas, prototyping workflows, and sharing lessons from the front line.
These events aren’t about selling software. They’re about building the next generation of digital practice.
If you want to see where the industry is heading, start by showing up in the right rooms.
Here are five events that consistently push the boundaries of what’s possible 👇

1. SpeckleCon
Where the brightest minds in AEC gather to shape how the industry uses its data.
This flagship event highlights how Speckle is transforming design workflows through real-world case studies from leaders at Gensler, Multiconsult, Stantec, and Haskoning.
🎟️ Bonus: 10% off with code “ATJ” at checkout. https://conf.speckle.systems/
2. RELEASE [AEC]
A new and unique event redefining what an AEC conference can be.
Speakers include Stjepan Mikulić, Tim Fu, Ismail Seleit, Jeronimo Tani, and yes, I’ll be speaking too! Expect bold ideas and unfiltered discussion about where the industry is going next. https://www.release-aec.com/
3. ArchiTech Network (ATN) Summit
A first-of-its-kind gathering exploring the intersection of architecture and technology.
Curated by Oliver Thomas, this event is all about ideas that challenge, inspire, and elevate digital practice. https://www.atn-summit.com/
4. NXT BLD
Focused on BIM 2.0 and beyond, NXT BLD consistently spotlights the technologies reshaping the way we design, build, and collaborate. Speakers to be announced but it’s always a must-attend. https://nxtbld.com/
5. AEC Innovate
Run by PSMJ Resources, this is the AI and Technology Strategies Summit for leaders navigating digital transformation. Expect practical insight on what’s next in productivity, data, and automation. AEC INNOVATE June 16-18 | PSMJ
Final Thought
Pick one event and show up with intention.
Plan who to meet, what to learn, and how it connects back to your next project or product.
That single decision could shape your next 12 months. So, which one are you most excited about? Or better yet, which event do you think will define the next big AEC tech shift? Let me know!
5. Access my ConTech Database
I have been collecting new software into a database which I have always wanted to enable access for architects, engineers and construction professionals to search and find the right solutions for them. I have now built front end for this and you can access this below! Access the World’s Largest AEC ConTech Software Database - ADDD
